About Us
The East San Diego Historical Society was formed to collect information and artifacts related to the history of the area known as City Heights, Teralta and East San Diego, as well as neighboring communities that are part of the history and culture of the area. Although our history dates back to the mid 1800's, finding any information about the past of this community is very difficult. Nothing has been done to preserve the history of this area. And in fact, steps have actually been taken to erase references to the history of the community, and at one time city, of East San Diego.
We are collecting historical documents, newspaper articles, photos, etc... to display on our website. As our collection grows we will be able to provide the community, and anyone else interested, a comprehensive history of the area dating back to it's earliest times. We plan to not only have a website, but eventually a physical location in the community.
